There are five sections in the SAN tab
- SAN Cloud - configuration of SAN elements
- Storage Cloud - configuration of directly attached storage
- Policies - Surprise! there are polices in UCS
- Pools - IQN (for ISCSI), WWN and WWPN, and the interesting WWxN where both can be configured at the same time.
- Traffic Monitoring
I think I have this well covered. Uplink interfaces, port channels, VSANs and PIN groups. There is a threshold class also which is used to set event thresholds.
Storage Cloud
I have no idea what will be on the actual lab but I'm guessing that direct attached storage unlikely as compared SAN storage (big part of the network after all). I think I need to at least know some of the basics just in case.
In order to use this, the mode must be set to FC Switching. Configure this under the Fabric Interconnect, General tab:
The next steps are creating the VSAN, making the correct FC ports storage ports and assigning the VSAN to the interface. Here is an example of what it will look like:
Next, the local zoning is configured on a service policy using the expert wizard.
