UCS Configuration Screen Shots

This post provides an overview of the basic steps required to configure a UCS system with mostly screenshots.

Overview
UCS configuration is fairly involved and best done in a sequential fashion.  There are 5 major categories that are used in the configuration of UCS.
  • Configure Interfaces and Interconnects
  • Configure Policies
  • Configure Pools
  • Configure Templates
  • Configure Service Profiles

Configure Interfaces and Interconnects
1. Configure IPs on the FI's
2. Configure the hostname of the FI's
3. Set the Server AutoConfig policy (equipment)
Cisco UCS Manager uses this policy to determine how to configure a new server. If you create a server autoconfiguration policy, the following occurs when a new server starts:
  •  The qualification in the server autoconfiguration policy is executed against the server.
  •  If the server meets the required qualifications, the server is associated with a service profile created from the service profile template configured in the server autoconfiguration policy. The name of that service profile is based on the name given to the server by Cisco UCS Manager.
  •  The service profile is assigned to the organization configured in the server autoconfiguration policy.

 4. Set the chassis and server discovery policy. Also configure the power policy.(Equipment tab)

5. Configure the server ports on both FI's (Equipment tab)
Using the 'Equipment', 'Fabric Interconnect', 'Fixed Module', 'Ethernet Port' tab set the port types for both the server and uplink ports by right clicking om the port.

6. Configure the LAN Uplink ports on both FI's (LAN tab)
