Overview
UCS has three series of UCS servers - The B,C and E series. The B series (think 'B" for Blade) is as you guessed, a blade based solution. The C series are rack mount servers and the E series is based on a module that is inserted into an ISR router.
B Series
The B series consists on many pieces. A summary is provided below and then a more descriptive section for each piece is given.
The B series is a blade server solution that houses blade servers and up to two fabric extenders. Up to eight half slot blade servers and four full slot blade servers can be installed in a chassis. The chassis supports up to four power supplies and eight fans.
C Series
The C series UCS rack servers can be used in both a stand alone fashion as well as being managed by UCS.
C Series servers
Server | CPU | Memory | Disks | I/O | Size |
C200 | Xeon 5500/5600 | 12 Dimm, 96 GB | 4x3.5 | 2 PCIe | 1 RU |
C210 | Xeon 5500/5600 | 12 Dimm, 96 GB | 16 SSF | 5 PCIe | 2 RU |
C250 | Xeon 5500/5600 | 48 DIMM, 384GB | 8 SSF | 5 PCIe | 2 RU |
C460 | Xeon 7500 | 64 DIMM, 512GB | 12 SSF | 10 PCIe | 4 RU |
E Series
The E series UCS modules are used in the 2900 and 3900 ISR routers. There are 2 form factors; the single wide (S) and the double wide (D). The double wide modules have a few variants which determine which ISR's can be used and the amount of disk storage available.
Server | Form Factor | CPU | Memory | Disks |
E140S | Single-wide | Xeon E3-1105C | 2 Dimm,16GB | 2 |
E140D and E160D | Double-wide | Xeon E5-2418L and 2428L | 3 Dimm, 48GB | Up to 3 |
